The Plus block is made of 2 row of squares and a rectangle, using all the same techniques from the Nine-Patch block to create this very graphic, simple shape.

The block's name is obvious, and historically it has been used for its connotations to religion and the Red Cross, as well as being used on point as a X. In modern quilting it's used for its bold design.
You can use any longer ruler or follow the markings on your cutting mat. It can be easier to cut strips and then sub-cut.
You are creating a row of white, pink, white. Use clips or pins to hold the squares together as you sew.
Its always handy to keep your iron and a pressing mat near by so you can press as you go, this helps ensure your block pieces stay aligned.
Now it's a simple case of sewing these threes strips together. Find the centre of each row and align them from this point before you sew. That means the top and bottom squares stay aligned.
Pressing the seams toward the centre reduces bulk.
